Crackerjack Student Lecture Awards
G. VALDIMARSSON AWARD
Value: $100
The G. Valdimarsson award is given out annually to a graduate student for the best crackerjack seminar presentation as evaluated by a committee of department members. Students who present their research at the Crackerjack Seminar Series are eligible. The award honours Dr. Gunnar Valdimarsson who passed away in 2010. Gunnar was a dedicated professor, mentor, and close friend to students and colleagues. He was unanimously selected because he embodied characteristics that every person should strive to possess. Most notable was his honest, warm-hearted, generous, and spirited nature. Gunnar helped teach us how to enjoy life and the people in it. He faced cancer with courage and dignity, and will not be forgotten. Thanks to a generous donation from Gunnar’s family and the BSGSA, each year’s recipient will receive $100 and have their name engraved on the award.
